The gentle melody of the elevator door clicking had not resonated in this eight-story building since December 23.
Residents had to cope without it throughout the holiday period.
Three weeks during which they organized themselves so as not to suffer too much from the consequences of this breakdown: errands to avoid overloading their arms, travel limited or even canceled.

“I invited my 80-year-old father for the holidays, he didn’t leave the apartment.
He got stuck in our house.
Impossible for him to go up or down seven floors without an elevator,” confides a resident, annoyed.
Fatalist, she expects another breakdown in the hours or days to come.
