The television and radio host and theater author was the guest of “C à vous” on France 5 this Tuesday, January 30. He explained to Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine what he missed to make his experience at BFMTV a success.

The journalist and actor

Laurent Ruquier

was the guest of Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine this Tuesday, January 30 in “C à vous” on the occasion of his participation, from February 15, in the play “The Mona Lisa finally speaks ".

It gives voice to the cult work of art by Leonardo da Vinci, performed by Karima Marimon.

But if he now has the time to speak on France 5 at the start of the evening, it is because the TV host recently left his position.

Indeed, this is the information that surprised the PAF at the end of last year.

Laurent Ruquier, in agreement with Marc-Olivier Fogiel, decided to leave BFMTV which he had just joined three months earlier.

“In this profession we have successes and failures.

And I always come out of something bad, something good

,” he asserts confidently in the face of a doubtful Babeth about the “good” that this turnaround could have brought about.

“I couldn’t have been at your house to promote the Mona Lisa, for example.

For it to work at BFM it would have been necessary…”

After this bit of humor, the journalist wants to clarify things.

“I didn’t leave France Télévisions to host a news segment.

I left France TV because I was no longer wanted here but I didn't know at all what I was going to do.

I had several offers and I chose BFM.

Assessment of the operation of these three months spent on the continuous news channel?

“It was an incredible experience, I recommend it

,” quips Laurent Ruquier, causing Anne Elisabeth Lemoine to burst out laughing.

He continues more seriously:

“I don’t regret it.

I don't regret the experiences of my life.

I would have preferred it to be more successful, it wasn't the case.

We can give 10,000 reasons [...] but I understood that it was not made for me

. ”

Lucid, Laurent Ruquier then listed the reasons why, according to him, the public appreciates him.

“He likes me to give my opinion, to make them laugh.

In fact I'm going to tell you - and it's something I haven't said yet - for it to work at BFM it would have been necessary for nothing to happen in the news

," he says in laughing.

“What I like is to unearth things that we don't talk about, it's to take the news through the small end of the lens and for that there would have to be no Israel Hamas conflict, the Depardieu affairs and so on.

»

Far from criticizing these themes, the TV host simply explains that this formula was ultimately not made for him.

“I always like to take a step aside, and BFM is not made for that.

Besides, the channel is successful, it gives priority to information and I was not a priority.
