The lunch menu at the Penzberg meeting point “Casa” has become a hit.

It's been around for four months.

Recently 28 guests came, although there is actually only room for 24.

Five restaurants provide the menu on a monthly rotation, which costs seven euros including coffee and cake.

Two sponsors make this possible.

Penzberg – “It tastes better together.” That’s how you could describe the motto of the lunch menu in “Casa”.

The goal is to bring together older people who would otherwise eat alone at home.

Experiencing togetherness is the main focus, confirms “Casa” deputy director Lisa-Marie Lagalante, who now took stock of the situation together with helpers and sponsors.

Lunch at the Casa has been available since October 2023

The lunch menu has been around for four months.

He is covered every Wednesday.

“It’s been a huge success,” says Lagalante.

At the start in October, 18 to 20 guests came.

Since then it has actually always been full.

Recently there were even 28 guests, although there is only room for 24.

Many seniors come because they don't want to eat alone and want to find contact here.

The ages range from 60 to 96. They are mainly women, but recently more men have also come, she says.

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to give everyone a confirmation when registering because the demand is greater than the space available.

Six restaurants changing monthly

Around 25 volunteers in four teams organize the lunch.

Six restaurants provide the menus on a monthly rotation.

The Loisachtal farmer's shop started.

This was followed by Antica Rimini and Maida.

In January the Märznhof was cooking.

In February it's the turn of Hoislbräu and in March Ari's Taverne.

“The guests have been incredibly satisfied so far,” says Lagalante.

The price is seven euros.

This was made possible by two sponsors, the Rotary Club and Roche Diagnostics.

According to Lagalante, the hosts themselves receive eight euros per menu.

The lunch price also includes coffee and cake for guests, which are baked by the helpers themselves.

The model was lunch in Benediktbeuern

Planning for the luncheon began last summer.

Inge Hauptmann, Bernadette Leise, Martina Schumacher and Irene Huber, who now also make up the management team, took the initiative back then.

The model was the lunch table in Benediktbeuern, which Inge Hauptmann co-founded eleven years ago.

She was also enthusiastic about the response to the interim results.

She says it's a stroke of luck that there are lots of helpers and innkeepers are taking part.

Luring people out of their apartment

One of them is Peter Höck from “Märznhof”.

The most important thing is to be able to support people, that is the main concern, he says about his motivation.

The lunch is financially supported by Roche Diagnostics and the Rotary Club.

Social responsibility, i.e. doing something good at the location, is part of Roche's philosophy, says Johannes Ritter, explaining the commitment.

He thinks it's a great thing to lure people who no longer have so much contact out of their apartment in this way.

Rotary President Clemens Meikis says it is striking that more and more older people are not doing so well.

Rotary is always looking for issues to help with.

The “Casa” has opened doors here, he explains.

In view of the great popularity and the limited space, there have already been ideas about moving to a large hall.

But then, says Lagalante, it would no longer be comfortable, more like a canteen.

But that's exactly what you don't want.

At the same time, she is promoting an alternative to chatting with each other: the open seniors' meeting in the “Casa” every second and fourth Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., which is currently suffering from a lack of popularity.

There is no lunch there - but coffee and cake.

Register for lunch in the “Casa”

For lunch every Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the “Casa” at Bahnhofstrasse 35a (next to the Christkönig parish center), registration is required by the previous Monday: telephone 08856/9034760 (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) or by email casa.mittagstisch@web.de.
