Highlights: After last year's improvement: Israel deteriorated in the global corruption index Israel today. Israel dropped to 33rd place according to the CPI ranking. The Israeli delegation believes that the reason for this is the promotion of legal reform. The organization ranked non-democratic countries above Israel and even lowered the ranking of leading democratic countries such as Germany, France, Great Britain and the USA. Among the 180 countries included in the 2023 corruption index, there is not a single country that received the maximum score of 100, but there are some that came close to it.

After an improvement the previous year, the corruption index for 2023 dropped Israel two places to 33rd place with a score of 62 points.

Although the global CPI organization that compiles the index does not indicate the reasons for Israel's decline, the Israeli delegation estimates that the reason for this is the promotion of legal reform.

On the other hand, there are countries that are not democratic at all, such as the United Arab Emirates, which received a higher score than Israel.

And not only Israel, the countries of Great Britain, the Netherlands, and New Zealand dropped to the lowest score they ever received, and the United States, Germany, and France also experienced a decline.

Today (Tuesday) the Global Corruption Perception Index 2023 CPI - Corruption Perception Index - was published in all countries of the world at the same time.

The index has been compiled by the international transparency organization Transparency International - TI since 1995 and in Israel is published by the association "Transparency International Israel - Shabil" which is one of the 113 branches in the countries of the world that are members of the global organization TI.

As mentioned, according to the Global Corruption Index for 2023, Israel drops to 33rd place with a score of 62. This drop comes after Israel's jump in the 2022 index of 5 places with a score of 63 compared to the lowest score of 59 in 2021, when it approached Zion's red line 50 under which there are countries declared as corrupt.

The chairman of the Shebil association, retired judge Niri Arad warns against Israel's return to the negative trend in the perception of corruption in the State of Israel and its social and economic consequences as a result.

Despite the assessment that the legal reform led to a decrease in Israel's ranking, according to the ranking there are countries that are not democratic at all in essence and received a higher score and place than Israel or are located close to it.

For example, the United Arab Emirates, which does not have a democratic regime at all, received a higher score than Israel, and Qatar received a low score, but close to Israel.

Among the 180 countries included in the 2023 corruption index, there is not a single country that received the maximum score of 100, but there are some that came close to it, such as Denmark, which is in first place with a score of 90 for the second year in a row;

Finland with a score of 87 is the same as last year;

And New Zealand with a score of 85, although it is the lowest in its history, down 2 points.

and Yemen with a score of 16. Other countries at the bottom are Iran with a score of 24;

Russia in Zion 26;

Turkey in Zion 34;

Hungary and China score 42.
