The municipality of Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn has awarded the Citizens' Medal twice.

Both honorees are well known locally.

Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn - Karlheinz Neumayer has been involved with SpVgg Höhenkirchen for decades and has made a decisive contribution to the development of what is now the largest club in the community. As far as his involvement in Siegertsbrunn is concerned, Hans Loidl has been dancing at several weddings for decades - and not just in figurative sense.

The 76-year-old is not only the Leonhardi Committee chairman and headed the ETC Siegertsbrunn for many years, but as a wedding host he has also upheld the tradition for what feels like an eternity.

Both deserving citizens have now been awarded the Citizens' Medal by Mayor Mindy Konwitschny (SPD) in the town hall in the presence of the local council.

The Citizens Medal is awarded by the local council.

According to the town hall administration, with the two newly awarded recipients, seven people have received this highest municipal award, which, according to the statutes, may not be awarded to more than ten living people.

Credit for the Leonhardi trip

In her speech, Konwitschny left no doubt that Hans Loidl truly deserved this special award.

She recalled the months of work that Loidl, chairman of the Leonhardi Committee and market manager of the community for 30 years, has put into organizing the Leahats, the big Leonhardi ride in Siegertsbrunn.

Even during the celebrations, Loidl is kept busy, be it arranging tables in the festival tent or checking the market stalls.

In addition, for 40 years, from 1974 to 2014, Loidl steered the fortunes of the ETC Siegertsbrunn, which enthusiastic winter sports enthusiasts founded in 1966 to skate and play ice hockey.

Under chairman Loidl, the divisions were expanded to include tennis, fitness and stick shooting.

“Without you, the ETC would not be as it is now – even with its new buildings,” said Konwitschny to Loidl, who sat with her on the local council for years.

The 76-year-old was a member of the committee for 30 years and also took over the office of second mayor from 2002 to 2008.

Sometimes you can say he was perhaps stubborn.

Mayor Mindy Konwitschny about Karlheinz Neumayer

Neumayer, in turn, had put all his voluntary work into a club, the SpVgg Höhenkirchen, Konwitschny addressed the second honoree, “with all his heart and soul”.

Including - with interruptions - as chairman from 1976 to 2021.

He not only showed good nerves, but also showed “incredible assertiveness,” said the town hall boss: “Sometimes you can say that he was perhaps stubborn.” “A Schwab,” said Neumayer, who comes from Swabia to the laughter of those present.

Hans Loidl accepted his award with his typical mischievous smile.

The persistence of the now 83-year-old has paid off, Konwitschny continued her laudatory speech.

This is shown by the success of the sports club.

Because when Neumayer started at SpVgg there were a good 100 members, when he finally stepped down as chairman the club had 3,000 members and an impressive eleven divisions.

“This is really a life’s work,” was Konwitschny’s conclusion.

Neumayer said after Konwitschny ceremoniously presented him with the citizen's medal that he had originally wanted to use the chronicle to tell something about the SpVgg: “But the SpVgg chronicle has 10,000 pictures.

That would have been a bit much.” So he limited himself to thanking the local council for the award and promised – just like Loidl – to honor the medal.

The latter thanked him in a broken voice (“I'm losing my voice”) and said goodbye with a joke about his long-standing commitment to the Leonhardi Festival: These were the first words of the glacier mummy Ötzi after he was thawed and encouraged to talk by scientists: “Is Loidl Hans still a member of the Leonhardi Committee?”
