At the general meeting of the Bad Tölz district fishing association, boaters, dealing with predators and the acquisition of young members were topics of discussion.
Bad Tölz - The biggest predators in the Isar and the lakes and ponds in the region and therefore also those of the fishermen are cormorants and goosanders, followed by herons and otters.
This recently became clear at the general meeting of the Tölz district fishing association.

The old and new chairman Florian Herzinger thanked the hunters several times for taking on the voracious birds: “They shot 67 cormorants and 46 goosanders last year.
Otherwise they would have eaten around 59,000 fish and caused damage of around 120,000 euros.”
But commercial boaters on the Isar are not necessarily welcome either.
“It is a huge win for us that boaters will continue to have to apply for their license to sail on the Isar every year.
They wanted to have a permit for several years,” explained the fishing boss.
Since there were a lot of young fish in Aiteln, Nase and Hazel last year, numerous shallow water areas had to be cordoned off.
“We have also now submitted a request that boaters are only allowed to go ashore in three defined places to protect the young fish.”
Even if the situation of the fish stocks on the upper and lower Isar is definitely good, young fish still have to be added constantly, said the chairman.
“Climate change and the associated higher temperatures in our waters are also affecting our fish.” In Kirchsee, for example, whitefish have been used repeatedly for many years.
“Now you can fish there again, but only five fish a year.”
Many older fishermen: Bad Tölz club wants to have more young members
The labor services were still relatively well attended last year.
However, since the average age of the club's members is around 61, younger members also need to be approached more.
“Now is the time to set the course for the future,” said the chairman.
He also announced further structural improvements in the upper and lower Isar by the water management office.
In addition, Herzinger advertised a new app from the Upper Bavaria Fishing Association: “In the future, the membership card will also be provided electronically in addition to a wide range of information.
A great thing.”
Treasurer Florian Bomhard reported a slight increase: “Through the sale of annual and daily fishing permits for the Isar, the reservoir, the Maxlweiher and the Kirchsee, the costs for the association, primarily the stocking costs, are roughly covered.”
