Tesla boss Elon Musk demands a lot from his employees so that the new low-cost electric car is a success.

Tesla is planning to build an affordable electric car.
In order for the project to be a success, Elon Musk wants the employees to live and sleep in the factory.
Austin - “We are deep in production hell,” said Tesla boss Elon Musk about the extremely bumpy production ramp-up of the Model 3 in 2017. Something similar is likely to happen again for the company - with corresponding consequences for employees.

In the quarterly earnings conference call on January 24th, Musk warned of a difficult phase for the company.

The reason for this is the plans to build a vehicle for the mass market.
The production ramp-up of the low-cost electric car planned for next year will require unusual measures.
Tesla employees must prepare to live and sleep at the factory in Texas.
“The engineers really have to live on the assembly line,” Musk told investors.
It's not something that just works.
“It will be a tough start to production,” Musk continued.
“We will practically be sleeping on the production line.
Not practical, we'll do it." There would be a lot of new technologies, a huge amount of new revolutionary manufacturing technologies.

The cheap electricity company's project runs under the code name “Redwood”.
According to the Reuters news agency, the new model is scheduled to go into production at the Gigafactory Texas in Austin in the second half of 2025.
It could be a compact crossover.
A volume of 10,000 vehicles per week is planned.
The price is said to be around $25,000.
It will later be built in the new factory in Mexico and in the Gigafactory in Grünheide.
Musk had already promised an affordable electric car with a starting price of $25,000 for 2020 in order to be able to compete with gasoline-powered and low-cost suppliers from China such as BYD.
However, he has put this plan on hold for the time being.
Tesla's cheapest offering, the Model 3 sedan, currently has a starting price of $38,990 in the US.
