United States President Joe Biden said today (Tuesday) that he has decided how to respond to the attack on American forces in Jordan, in which three American soldiers were killed, but did not elaborate.
At a campaign rally in Florida, the Democratic president added: "We don't need a more extensive war in the Middle East."
Biden is under Republican pressure to directly attack Iran, which Washington says has been aiding Shiite militias that have been attacking its forces in the region since October 7.
However, the White House emphasized that the United States is not looking for a direct confrontation with Iran, which denies that the militias are under its control.
Yesterday the Secretary of State of the United States, Anthony Blinken, said that the current situation in the Middle East is the most dangerous since 1973 - the year when the Yom Kippur War broke out - and perhaps even earlier.
