The former Avanguardia Nazionale terrorist, Paolo Bellini,
sentenced
to life imprisonment in the first instance, will not be present tomorrow in Bologna for the start of the trial against him before the Assize Court of Appeal (presided over by judge Alberto Pederiali).
for the Bologna massacre of 2 August 1980.
Bellini has been in prison in Spoleto since last June, when he was arrested due to the risk that he would commit other crimes after threatening his ex-wife, Maurizia Bonini, and the president of the Court of Assizes, Francesco Maria Caruso, who condemned him.
"The President of the Court - explained the lawyer Antonio Capitella, who together with his colleague Manfredo Fiormonti is assisting the former right-wing terrorist - on 17 January had ordered the transfer from prison for Bellini, following our request, in order to allow him to participate in the hearing, but on January 23 the Dap said 'no' in a note for security reasons and personnel problems. This means that he could only participate via videoconference. However, we will ask the Court again to allow him to participate in presence, it is his right."
In addition to the former 'Ndrangheta terrorist and killer Paolo Bellini, on 31 January the former Carabinieri captain
Piergiorgio Segatel
will also return to trial , accused of misdirection, and sentenced in the first instance to 6 years and
Domenico Catracchia
, former condominium administrator in via Gradoli, in Rome, accused of giving false information to the prosecutor in order to divert the investigation, sentenced to 4 years.
