A look at the federal broadband atlas shows big differences in the district when it comes to surfing speeds.

An overview.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – Jerky videos and long loading times when surfing the internet: slow internet is torture and a real problem in times of home office.

On the one hand, how quickly or slowly the district citizens surf depends on their Internet tariff.

On the other hand, also on the speed of the available lines.

Using the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport's broadband atlas, we have created an overview of where surfing is possible at the speed of light - and where not yet.

Broadband Internet in Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen: There is still a need for expansion in these communities

Wolfratshausen

: The internet in Loisachstadt is lightning fast.

According to the Broadband Atlas, at least in almost 82 percent of households the maximum market speed of 1000 megabits (Mbits) per second or more is possible.

However, there are bottlenecks in broadband expansion northwest of the Fairytale Park and in the Waldram district.

In some cases, only between zero and ten percent of households are covered by broadband.

Geretsried

: While broadband is already widespread in Wolfratshausen, the neighboring town of Geretsried outperforms the rafting town by ten percentage points.

1000 Mbits are available in over 92 percent of households and at least 100 Mbits in over 95 percent.

Icking

: The Isartal community is the leader with almost 100 percent broadband.

According to the Broadband Atlas, only three percent of households are not connected to the high-speed network.

The community submitted funding applications as early as 2015, and the fiber optic expansion has been considered completed since 2020.

Königsdorf

: Things look different in Königsdorf.

Only 1.22 percent of households have access to 1,000 megabits per second or more.

According to the Broadband Atlas, less than half of Königsdorf's residents can access a performance between 100 and 200 Mbits per second.

Bad Tölz

: In the district town of Bad Tölz the status quo is different.

No wonder.

Compared to rural areas, a fiber optic expansion in a city can reach many times more households per street.

Almost 86 percent of Tölzers could surf with 1000 Mbits or more with the right tariff.

There are still white spots on the outer borders of the city.

In some cases only 20 percent of households use the Internet at high speed.

Jachenau

: In communities in the south of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district, 1000 Mbits per second is only available in just under five percent of households.

Around 30 percent each have to resort to speeds between 100 and 200 and 16 to 30 Mbits.

A good ten percent of the connections are not recorded in the atlas.

Münsing

: In comparison, the municipality on Lake Starnberg still has a lot of catching up to do.

Less than five percent of Münsingen residents have the opportunity to access a 1000 Mbit line.

Over 60 percent of Internet users surf at only 100 Mbits or less - and even 30 percent at speeds between 16 and 30 Mbits per second.

The expansion stalled in 2023 when the company that was supposed to provide the community with fiber optic connections pulled out.

Lenggries

: In terms of area, Lenggries is one of the biggest in the district.

And yet the community is well connected to high-speed internet.

Over 62 percent of Lenggries residents can surf the Internet at 1,000 Mbits or more per second.

Almost 89 percent can access at least 50 Mbits per second, 73 percent can access 200 Mbits or more.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district is slightly behind compared to the Free State

Eurasburg

: According to the figures from the Broadband Atlas, there are only a few places in Eurasburg - in the center of the village and at the southern tip of Beuerberg - 1000 Mbits.

Just over 16 percent of households are covered by broadband internet.

81 percent surf the World Wide Web at 100 Mbits or less.

Egling

: In Egling there are only a few broadband connections across the board - around the districts of Thanning, Hornstein and Sachsenhausen - meaning availability for more than half of the households there.

Almost half of the community's citizens have access to at least 200 Mbits per second.

Just over 40 percent have to be content with a maximum of 100 Mbits.

Dietramszell

: The high-speed network in the municipality of Dietramszell can still be expanded.

A little more than half a percent of Zell residents have a connection that enables 1000 Mbits or more.

30 percent have to be content with speeds between 200 and 400 Mbits per second.

Still faster than almost 37 percent of households, where only 100 to 200 Mbits are possible.

However, new broadband connections were laid in mid-2022.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district

: In total, with the right tariff with an Internet provider, almost 60 percent of the district could already surf with 1000 Mbits.

18 percent have to be content with speeds between 200 and 400 Mbits and roughly 14 percent with 100 and 200 Mbits.

In comparison, the Free State of Bavaria is slightly better than the district when it comes to availability of 1000 Mbits and more: at 67 percent.
