At the weekend, numerous bus drivers in Schleswig-Holstein stopped work.

Travelers and commuters must expect disruptions.

Kiel - Bus drivers in Schleswig-Holstein want to strike from Friday to Sunday for better working conditions.

The Verdi union announced on Tuesday that employees in the public bus industry in Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg and Neumünster and in the private bus industry throughout the state have been called on a warning strike.

“What the employers have offered is close to a loss of reality and completely ignores the reality of the employees,” said Verdi negotiator Sascha Bähring.

The North Omnibus Association (OVN) doesn't even want to negotiate a 35-hour week, so the pressure on the streets needs to be increased.

“The strikes will affect almost all bus traffic in Schleswig-Holstein,” emphasized Verdi spokesman Frank Schischefsky.

This means that there will be very few buses on the roads.

Commuters and travelers would therefore have to expect numerous disruptions.

In addition to the introduction of a 35-hour week, the union is calling for shift length to be limited to a maximum of ten hours for employees in the bus industry.

A minimum rest period of twelve hours is also required.

The term of the agreement should be twelve months.

Public transport strikes are also scheduled to take place in other German cities on Friday.

According to Verdi, more than 130 municipal companies in around 80 cities and around 40 districts are affected by the collective bargaining round.

In most federal states, new collective agreements and, above all, working conditions are being negotiated.
