It emerged from the court's decision that the police officers of the station presented the DNA samples to the defendants as corona tests, and therefore agreed to be sampled. The court in Famagusta rejected last night (Monday) the DNA evidence of two of the rape accused in Cyprus.

This is after an interim decision made by the defense attorneys against the admissibility of the evidence collected from the defendants before the proof phase began.

The lawyer, Nir Yaslovitz, together with his Cypriot partner, claim that the DNA samples were taken from the defendants in a ruse when they were told that it was a corona test, and that the consent was obtained with a group nod and not in the required formal manner.

Lawyer Yaslovitz told Walla: "I welcome the court's decision that invalidated the way the Cyprus police illegally took the DNA evidence from my clients while trampling on their rights."

According to him, "the sample was taken out of the police station's desire to get rid of the case and take it to court during a clearly unprofessional investigation. I hope that the decision marks the continuation of my client's absolute acquittal.
