Because the misbehavior of passengers has gotten out of hand, Nuremberg Airport has drawn up a code of conduct.

If you overdo it, you end up having to stay at home.

In 2023, 3.9 million passengers used Nuremberg Airport to get to their destination.

The most popular destination is the Turkish Antalya with over half a million passengers, followed by the popular holiday island of Mallorca with around 430,000 travelers.

But not all of the passengers necessarily know how to behave, as a measure taken by the airport shows.

Special rules of conduct have recently come into force that are intended to call travelers to order.

Abusive, drunken passengers: Nuremberg Airport wants to take stronger action

A press release from the airport talks about “insults at the check-in counter, too much alcohol or vandalism” – all of this is now probably too much for those responsible.

That's why signs and boards were put up at all terminals that point to a "rules of good behavior," as press spokesman Jan Beinßen confirmed to the online portal

Drunk passengers in particular are said to have caused headaches at Nuremberg airport, as the report states.

Travelers to the popular Balearic island, which is known for its party tourism, would also be there.

Many have already been excluded from their flight because they were already too drunk: “They often react angrily, and the companions also get involved,” says Beinßen.

But there are also repeated arguments or even fights at the check-in counter: “Many people react with incomprehension when they have to pay extra or repack because of the baggage regulations,” says Beinßen.

There were 40 police operations last year alone.

In order to stop misbehavior among passengers, the airport has announced tougher penalties for violating the rules.

Verbal attacks, threats of violence or insults would not be tolerated and could lead to a report.

In extreme cases, passengers should end up on a “black list” of the respective airline - meaning they could be excluded from traveling in the future.

A house ban can also be the result of aggressive behavior.

The rules of etiquette primarily serve the interests of airport staff, it is said.
