Five hours by car for nothing!

A family was looking forward to visiting a renowned thermal spa - but the entrance area was the last stop for them.

Bad Loipersdorf - “Large thermal water pools and a sauna village for relaxation” in the thermal bath and “Water fun for young and old: slides, sports pool and baby beach to experience” in the adventure pool, plus the Schaffelbad: It’s already loud in the Loipersdorf thermal resort in Styria (Austria). Homepage offers a lot for adults and children.

Many people have a good time there, as shown by the average Google rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars.

If you're allowed in.

For a family man, the thermal baths are now no longer a destination for excursions.

Thermenresort Loipersdorf (Austria): Family is not allowed in without an online ticket – father is furious

He vented his anger several weeks ago in a Google review.

“There was no indication on the homepage about the need for an online reservation.

So our goal was to arrive at the thermal spa with two children as early as possible.

After a 2.5-hour drive, we – and many other families (!!) – were greeted by a sign saying: “Entry only possible with an online ticket”.

The entrance area - the family couldn't get any further.

The photo is from another Google review.

“Climate-damaging car rides and sad children’s eyes and a lot of anger among us adults”

The man gives 1 out of 5 stars and writes bitterly: “Thank you, dear management!

A clear notice on the homepage could have prevented five hours of unnecessary, climate-damaging car travel and sad children's eyes and a lot of anger among us adults.

That's what you can actually expect in the information age!

A shame!” Of course, his information cannot be verified, but there are no grounds for doubt - neither in his review nor in the exchange with our editorial team.

Plus he actually lives 2.5 hours away by car.

A request from our editorial team to the Loipersdorf thermal spa department on Thursday (January 25th) initially received no response.

On Friday, Google responded to a complaint that was several weeks old.

The thermal spa operators write: “Especially during the holiday season, especially during the Christmas holidays, we are very popular as a popular excursion destination.

We provided daily information about admission availability via social media and on our website and recommended purchasing tickets online in advance.”

Almost a guest at Österreich-Therme describes: “Many parents sat desperately with their cell phones in the foyer”

Did the disappointed guest not obtain sufficient information beforehand?

Or the thermal spa doesn’t communicate the restrictions clearly enough?

What was in the Instagram story and on the homepage can no longer be verified afterwards, but relevant information is rare in the Facebook postings.

In any case, there is no mention of “It is better not to arrive without an online reservation” there, but rather a reference to booking the ticket.

According to the father of the family, they were not the only ones who had to leave disappointed.

“Many parents sat desperately in the foyer with their cell phones and tried to quickly get a ticket online.

A gentleman told me that after spending the night in the hotel he was now refused entry.

Travel and hotel costs for nothing.

I was just really angry and disappointed.” In any case, another review says: “Nowhere is there any indication that you absolutely have to reserve online (except for a sign on site).

Despite arriving early, an hour's drive is free.

Sad children's eyes included.

Never again."

Thermenresort Loipersdorf apologizes to Google

The Loipersdorf thermal resort apologizes to the former customer in its statement on Google: “We are sorry that our recommendations did not reach you and that you could not get entry on site.

Nevertheless, we hope to be able to welcome you at another opportunity – perhaps outside of holiday periods.” The family will probably no longer give them the chance.

“As a consequence, we will avoid this thermal bath, even though we were often happy visitors in the past.” There was also trouble recently on the Baltic Sea, where an adult woman was refused a children's schnitzel.
