Emmanuel Macron estimated on Tuesday January 30 that it would be
“easy to blame everything on Europe”
to explain the difficulties of French farmers, who denounce certain obligations of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
The French president, on a state visit to Sweden, also explained that he was opposed to the trade agreement being negotiated between the European Union and the Mercosur countries due to
“rules which are not consistent with ours”
, and called for
“clear measures”
for imports of chicken and grain from Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron then called on Europeans to support Ukraine
“in the long term”
and to compensate for any possible decline in American aid.
“We must organize ourselves in such a way that if the United States were to make the sovereign choice to stop this aid or reduce it, it should not have an impact on the ground
,” he said during at a press conference in Stockholm, alongside his Swedish counterpart Ulf Kristersson.
