A seven-year-old child died Tuesday morning following a fire in a seven-story building in a city in Marseille and other people were injured, firefighters told AFP.
“There was a fire in an apartment on the 2nd floor in a R+7 building (Editor’s note: ground floor plus seven floors), a seven-year-old child died,”
in Kalliste Park, an impoverished city in the northern districts of France's second city, said a spokesperson for the firefighters on site.
Absolute emergency
“Four children between 4 and 13 years old are in absolute emergency”

Mayor Benoît Payan and Vice-Admiral Lionel Mathieu, who commands the marine firefighters battalion, are on site, according to the same source.
The causes of this incident are currently unknown.
