After a fire in the boiler room of a multi-generational house in Friedrichshagen (Western Pomerania-Greifswald district), its residents have to move out temporarily.
The five residents present, aged between 37 and 80, and a child aged two months were able to leave the house in time on Monday evening and were not injured, the police announced on Tuesday morning.
Greifswald - According to previous investigations, an 80-year-old resident of the house had operated a wood gasifier heater.
Shortly afterwards, the fire broke out in the boiler room for an initially unknown cause and spread from there to the house.
The 60 firefighters were able to bring the fire under control after just over an hour.
The damage was initially estimated at 100,000 euros.
The apartment building is therefore temporarily uninhabitable because the entire heating system and the boiler room were destroyed.
