At least
four people died
in a shipwreck that occurred this Monday night in the Mexican
Caribbean
Sea when the boat
"La Diosa del Mar",
full of tourists, sank between Isla Mujeres and Cancún, in the state of Quintana Roo.
One of the victims is a 10-year-old boy.
What should have been a pleasure trip ended up being the worst experience, since the ship
had more crew members than it was allowed
on its return to Puerto Juárez and
the excess weight caused it to lie down
in the water, causing its collapse.
The catamaran reportedly
had capacity for 16 people on board and was carrying 19
: at the time of the wreck there were 14 adults, a baby, two children, the captain and a tour guide.
The Attorney General's Office ordered the
arrest of the captain
of the boat, for being responsible for the tourist trip.
They arrested the captain of the sunken catamaran in Mexico.
The ship would have been
destabilized by a wave
caused by a larger vessel that just passed near it.
News in development.
