On board the sea rescue ship Sea-eye 4, of all places, the Green Party member of the state parliament Andreas Krahl met the woman for his life.

The two have just gotten engaged.

Murnau/Landkreis

– The Sea-eye 4 is by no means a cruise ship on which lovers can have a good time.

There you experience the suffering of people who are trying to find their way to the promised land of Europe across the sea in inflatable boats or unseaworthy soul sellers.

The converted offshore supply ship picks up shipwrecked refugees in the Mediterranean and brings them to a safe port.

For Andreas Krahl (34), the Sea-eye 4 has nevertheless become a dream ship: he has found the woman for life there.

The Murnau Green MP, who sits in the state parliament for the Weilheim constituency and is an intensive care nurse and paramedic in his civilian career, strengthened the medical team in the rescue ship's on-board hospital again in December last year.

Krahl fell in love there and recently got engaged.

New relationship status announced via Facebook photo

The 34-year-old made his new status public via a photo on his Facebook account.

You can see two hands, an engagement ring on the ring finger, and a ship is anchored in the background.

A sign that he will soon land in the harbor of marriage?

“We are currently in the planning phase and are looking for a date, but the wedding will take place later this year,” says Krahl.

Krahl's fiancée is pediatrician Nour Hanna, who worked as medical director for the German Doctors organization on the Sea-eye 4 for a few weeks.

According to Krahl, there are flat hierarchies on the ship.

“She was my doctor, I was the paramedic,” he explains.

Hanna and Krahl met on the rescue ship during his second deployment in 2022.

“It didn’t work right away,” says Krahl.

It took around 14 days until the member of the state parliament and Hanna, who at the time was working full-time at the clinic and polyclinic for child and adolescent medicine at the University Hospital in Dresden, confessed their feelings for each other.

“On a 53-meter ship there aren’t that many opportunities to get out of each other’s way.”

At first they both had a long-distance relationship.

The 33-year-old, who comes from Homs in Syria, has now packed up her tent in Dresden, quit her job and moved to Krahl in Murnau.

She is looking for a new job as a pediatric and adolescent doctor.

“She is currently taking on fee-based work,” explains Krahl.

The plan is for Krahl and Hanna to return to service on the Sea-eye 4 at some point.

If possible, together.

“We just have to make sure we can reconcile our appointments,” says Krahl.
