Landsberg – Victory and defeat again at the Landsberger Riverkings.

Last weekend the play-off candidates went to the league leaders in Erding.

On Sunday they welcomed EC Pfaffenhofen to the Landsberg ice stadium.

The game in Erding started very poorly.

After just two and a half minutes, the HCL was already 0-1 behind.

Maximilian Forster was able to score in the majority for the Galdiators.

A quick game then developed with chances for both sides.

As the playing time increased, Landsberg was more in control and so Marius Dörner, standing freely in the slot, managed to equalize in the eighth minute of the game.

Just 45 seconds later, the young Korbinian Benz was even able to make it 2-1 for the Lechstadt team.

The joy was short-lived, however, as Daniel Krzizok equalized for the hosts just 30 seconds later.

The fast and entertaining game resulted in numerous chances on both sides, which goalkeeper Dimitri Pätzold on the Erdinger side and Moritz Borst on the Landsberg side knew how to prevent and so the score went into the first break with a score of 2-2.

In the second third, Erding got more and more of the upper hand.

Although Landsberg was always able to set individual pinpricks, Erding's starting group pulled ahead confidently with two power play goals from Matheson and Pohl and a goal at five on five from Michael Trox to make it 5:2 by the second period break.

In the final third, the Erding Galdiators managed the score cleverly and scored the final score 6-2 in the 56th minute.

The Riverkings still had one or two chances, but were no longer able to pose a threat to the league leaders.

“Today we saw what a strong team Erding has,” said coach Martin Hoffmann after the game.

“We were able to play well in the first third and implement our match plan.

We lost our touch a bit in the second third and our young team was severely punished for it.

I congratulate Erding on his well-deserved victory.”

Sunday 'at home'

In the fight for the play-offs, the Riverkings welcomed EC Pfaffenhofen on Sunday.

With the exception of Edgar Protcenko, who had not yet fully recovered from his injury in the game against Schongau, coach Martin Hoffmann was able to rely on his entire squad.

The young player Nils Asner was also there.

The HCL started the game determinedly and took the lead 1-0 after just 20 seconds through Frantisek Wagner.

As a result, a relatively disjointed game developed, marked by many mistakes on both sides.

In the ninth minute, Jan Tlacil equalized after a counterattack to make it 1-1 for the guests.

In the relatively even first third, Luis Hegner managed to give the Riverkings a 2-1 lead 40 seconds before the break.

After Pfaffenhofen initially had significantly more of the game in the second third, Lechstadt's second line made the small preliminary decision.

Within 18 seconds, first Korbinian Benz and then Lars Grözinger scored to take the lead 4-1.

With the result we went into the third break.

Exactly one minute had been played in the final third when Jan Tlacil reduced the score to 2:4.

Landsberg was now better in the game, as it was at the end of the second third, and Jonas Schwarzfischer was able to score in the 52nd minute to make the final score 5-2.

Coach Martin Hoffmann was satisfied after the game: “The victory was a lot of hard work, but I'm even happier that we deserved to win the three points.

Now it's about preparing specifically for next Friday, because if we want to reach the play-offs directly on our own, we have to win in Schweinfurt on Friday.

This task is really difficult, even if Schweinfurt certainly doesn't occupy one of the top places in the table.

We are happy that we are still in the situation where our goal is to achieve 6th place on our own.”

If the Riverkings win in Schweinfurt next Friday, they will be directly qualified for the play-offs and will have no games on the carnival weekend.

During this time, the pre-play-offs run between the teams from 7th to 10th place in the table.
