Historic record of tourists in Assisi in 2023, with approximately 1.4 million presences and with the area which, in terms of arrivals, represents 24.7% of the entire regional tourist flow.
"Numbers never recorded before - underlines a note from the Municipality - which confirm and relaunch the seraphic city as the undisputed queen and fundamental driving force for Umbria".
The data - provided by Turismatica, a service of the Umbria Region for tourism statistics - also highlights a clear growth compared to last year (+21.4% arrivals and +14.6% presences, with an increase in terms of percentage variation higher than that regional which is 12.8% for arrivals and 8.9% for presences), when Assisi had already set the record of approximately 1.2 million presences.
The numbers relating to foreign tourists are significant: over half a million visitors from all over the world, with an increase of almost 27% compared to 2022.
"Extraordinary data - highlights Fabrizio Leggio, councilor for tourism and territorial marketing of the Municipality - to which excursionists must be added and other categories of visitors.
The numbers recorded in 2023 in terms of parking and paid parking areas in the city are emblematic: 500 thousand cars, 17 thousand buses and 6,500 campers, for an estimated total of around 3 million tourists, without considering other means of transport and free parking. Excellent also the influx to civic museums, with over 87 thousand visitors last year, considering that RoccaMaggiore was only reopened to the public on 23 June".
"We are talking about extraordinary numbers, never recorded before, the fruit - underlines the mayor, Stefania Proietti - of great team work and the important investments made in recent years for greater promotion and valorisation of the city. A work that began in 2016, when, for for the first time, strategic actions have been implemented for a new tourism development, with concrete results also for the economic and social growth of the entire territory".
"We want to consolidate and relaunch these numbers, with new and important promotion and communication actions for the Assisi brand, both on the national and international front".
