The Mexican journalist based in the United States Jorge Ramos, an informant with great influence in the Latin community as presenter of the Univisión Newscast, broadcast in the United States and 16 other countries on the continent, confronted the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, this Monday.

During the morning, the president's daily press conference, the communicator rebuked him about the violence figures recorded during this six-year term (2018-2024).

Ramos attended the same day that the president reported on the leak of the personal data of 309 journalists who cover the morning news.

“I would like to ask him about his sixth year, how he is going to leave the country.

Mexico, you know, is one of the most dangerous countries in the world to practice journalism.

That is why the leak of data of many of my colleagues in this press room is worrying, Mr. President, due to the danger they risk.”

“President, you are going to leave a country mired in violence, these are facts,” Ramos continued.

Ramos has ignored the president's intervention and has shown a poster with the figures for the six-year term, in which there have been 166,193 deaths, 4,892 femicides and 43 journalists have been murdered.

“And thousands of missing persons who have unfortunately disappeared again from the official figures,” said the communicator in reference to the controversy with the new census of missing persons promoted by the president, who has been accused of distorting the data by the relatives of the missing persons. the victims.

“The data is the data and, if we compare his Government with other Governments, the number of deaths in his Government is much higher,” Ramos assured.

“Are you willing to recognize with reality, with the data, that his militarization strategy, far from bringing more peace, has brought more violence?” the journalist asked again.

“I respect your point of view a lot, but I don't share it because I have a different vision and I have other data as well,” said López Obrador, who has shown how, according to his figures, murders were reduced by 20% compared to the end of the predecessor Administration, of Enrique Peña Nieto (2012-2018).
