The Provincial Court of Murcia orders the ultra party to readmit three regional parliamentarians expelled in 2020

Justice has condemned Vox for violating the fundamental rights of association and political participation of its deputies in a case that occurred in 2020 in Murcia that, according to the ultra party itself, has “parallelism” with the one carried out on Monday by five of its parliamentarians in Balearic Islands, expelled from the group for expelling the provincial president and the president of the Autonomous Chamber from the group, opening a serious internal crisis.

On January 16, the Provincial Court of Murcia dismissed the appeal presented by Vox against the sentence handed down in January 2022 by a Cartagena court that condemned it to reinstate the regional deputies Juan José Liarte, Mabel Campuzano and Francisco Carrera, who They were expelled from the party in June 2020 for withdrawing from the national leadership the powers to dispose of the funds that the Murcia Assembly paid to the parliamentary group to guarantee its operation and for dismissing advisors paid with public money who would actually work for the party. .

Last Monday, after announcing that he was going to propose to the Vox Guarantees Committee the “immediate precautionary expulsion of these five subjects”, in reference to the rebel deputies of the Balearic Islands, the general secretary of the party, Ignacio Garriga, assured that there was a “ “small parallel” between this case and the one that occurred in the previous legislature in the Murcian Assembly.

“There were [in Murcia] some wayward deputies who decided to leave, but there were people committed to the ideas who continued to fight against all odds, even against those who said they were from Vox and were motivated by personal interests, and the result was time after more people are trusting Vox and that Vox is conditioning the Government of Murcia from the Vice Presidency,” he stated, alluding to the

number two

of the regional Executive of the coalition between the party and the PP, José Ángel Antelo.

In reality, the three Murcian deputies did not leave the party, but rather were expelled by the Vox Guarantees Committee in a decision that Justice has now considered illegal, which forces them to be reinstated.

According to the ruling of the Provincial Court of Murcia, the revocation of powers over the group's accounts and the dismissal of advisors could not constitute any misconduct, since they respond to the provisions of the regulations of the regional assembly.

Regarding the other faults attributed to the critics - accounting irregularities, leaks to the press - the ruling concludes that the accusations of the Vox Guarantees Committee were based on mere conjectures.

The ruling not only condemns Vox to readmit the three former deputies - they left their seats at the end of the previous autonomous legislature, last May - but also annuls the primary elections to the Provincial Executive Committee (CEP) held a few months later, which he won. the current vice president of Murcia and to which critics were not allowed to appear.

Despite this, those then sanctioned have already indicated that they have no intention of returning to the game.

Regarding the repetition of the primary elections, it is unfeasible, since the national leadership of Vox changed the statutes to suppress them and the provincial committees are now hand-picked from Madrid.

Thus, the value of the ruling is merely testimonial since the court has rejected the claim of two of those expelled that Vox compensate them financially for the moral damage suffered.

In the case of the Balearic Islands, the causes of the expulsion of the five deputies are different, but the functioning of the party has similarities: Vox has provisionally expelled them through a very summary procedure before even taking their statements and listening to their arguments.

There is another parallel: the Balearic president, the popular Marga Prohens, can complete an absolute majority in the Autonomous Chamber by agreeing with the five wayward deputies of Vox and thus relegate Abascal's party to irrelevance.

This is what the Murcian president, Fernando López Miras, did with the three Vox rebels in the face of the motion of censure from PSOE and Ciudadanos.

The spokesperson for the ultra group in Congress, Pepa Millán, denied this Tuesday that there is a crisis in Vox and has assured that the information disseminated by the media is “false.”

Despite this, she has acknowledged that "unfortunately" her training in the Balearic Islands is going through "an absolutely Dantesque situation."
