The Lavazza Foundation's training model 'A Cup of Learning' arrives in Naples, in the northern suburbs of San Pietro a Patierno, to offer young people living in disadvantaged and vulnerable contexts a job opportunity in the world of coffee and to become baristas .

The project, born in 2017 on an international level, took place in the Campania capital in collaboration with La Casa del Smile of Cesvi, which hosts activities for minors, adolescents and young women.

An edition, the Neapolitan one, which was a source of inspiration in Lavazza's choice to talk about the project in the Rai fiction 'Mare Fuori'.

Lavazza and Cesvi organized a meeting between the training participants and Massimiliano Caiazzo, actor of the series which has become a cult and also protagonist of a campaign of the 'A Cup of Learning' project which will be launched on February 1st on TV and on You Tube.

An idea so that young people could share their experience with him.

Eight boys and girls had the opportunity to participate in specific sessions in order to increase their skills and thus have a further opportunity to enter the world of work.

They were followed directly by Lavazza trainers who taught them grinding techniques, the operation of espresso machines, the different extraction methods up to the world of latte art.

“We are very pleased to have brought A Cup of Learning to Naples with Cesvi, one of our longest-standing partners – said Veronica Rossi, senior sustainability manager Lavazza Group and manager of the Lavazza Foundation – together we believe that training can represent an opportunity for growth for girls and boys who live in fragile contexts".

At the end of the course, the participants obtained a recognition diploma.

The aim of the program is also to spread the culture of coffee by offering the opportunity to transform this passion into a profession.

“Today, thanks to the A Cup of Learning training course, our program is enriched – underlined Roberto Vignola, deputy director of Cesvi – by increasing job placement opportunities for young people living in disadvantaged contexts who can find tools and help to build a future for themselves improve".

From 2017 to today, 'A Cup of Learning' has been promoted in 16 countries around the world, trained over 400 beneficiaries and enabled the activation of more than 90 internships in the restaurant and café sectors.

Collaborations with qualified and competent partners are also crucial in every project.

In Italy, the program took place in Turin, in several editions, in collaboration with public and private bodies with the participants obtaining the diploma of espresso specialists which was recognized by the Ministry of Education;

in San Patrignano, in concert with the community of the same name;

in Rome with Save the Children Italia at the Civico Zero branches;

in Milan in collaboration with Fondazione Comunità Milano and the Academies of partner companies in the specific project.
