Finance Minister Lindner has a new proposal on the “hot topic” of citizens’ money: He wants to ignite a job boost for all recipients, similar to what was done for the Ukraine refugees.
Berlin – Citizens’ money should not be an early pension, but pure help in times of need – Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) has now emphasized this.
He demands that recipients of citizen's benefit get back into work more quickly - and sees a "job turbo" as a suitable means of achieving this, as Labor Minister Hubertus Heil also wants to launch for Ukrainian refugees.

out in favor of extending the so-called job turbo to all recipients of citizen's benefit to ensure faster labor market integration of refugees from Ukraine.
Citizen benefit recipients would then, among other things, have closer contact with the job centers.
At the same time, Lindner is calling for better opportunities for additional income.
Anyone who receives social benefits and works should not have as much of their earnings taken into account.
“It must be possible to work your way out of receiving benefits step by step,” said Lindner.

Lindner sees citizens’ money from the traffic light coalition as a “hot topic”
The finance minister described citizens’ money as a “hot topic”.
The standard rate “now tends to be too high”.
Although the calculation of the standard rate follows statistics, the development of inflation was overestimated.
Lindner therefore once again predicted that there could be a zero round of citizens' money in 2025.
At the beginning of the year, citizens' money had increased by an average of around twelve percent compared to 2023.
For single people, this means an increase of 61 to 563 euros per month.
Adults who live with a partner receive 506 euros.
For children and young people, the rates are between 357 and 471 euros, depending on age.
Job turbo for refugees as a role model for those receiving citizens’ benefit
Federal Social Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) announced a “job boost” for refugees in November, also in view of the shortage of skilled workers.
He wants to get hundreds of thousands of refugees into work more quickly.
Individual cooperation plans should also include steps such as further qualification in addition to employment or further language acquisition.
If job offers are not accepted, cuts in citizens' benefits will follow.

More appointments at the job center soon for citizens' benefit recipients?
The head of the Federal Employment Agency (BA), Andrea Nahles, relies on regular appointments at the job center.
You now have to “come to the job center every four to six weeks and talk specifically about the placement proposals,” Nahles told the broadcasters RTL and ntv.
This applies not only to Ukrainian war refugees, but “to all refugees”.
People who do not yet have a good knowledge of German should also be included.
After arrival and the German course, “the phase is where we say: Now we also expect you to be involved in working life,” says Nahles.
