In a letter addressed this Tuesday to the Head of State, several families of victims of the October 7 attacks ask him to prohibit

They do not want representatives of La France insoumise during the national tribute.

The families of several Franco-Israelis killed in the attacks of October 7 delivered a letter to the Élysée this Tuesday, January 30, in which they ask the President of the Republic “to prohibit any presence of La France insoumise at the national tribute which will be paid on February 7 in the Cour des Invalides.”

In this letter, written by the families and the No Silence collective and to which Le Parisien had access, five victims' families defend their position by explaining that "Insoumise France and its representatives never wanted to condemn or recognize Hamas as an organization terrorist, armed wing of Islamic Jihad.”

“We do not want to let LFI dishonor the victims”

The president of the La France insoumise group at the National Assembly, Mathilde Panot, announced on January 23 that she would attend the tribute ceremony.

“And I asked that tribute be paid to all the French victims of this war in the Middle East,” she added.

According to the signatories, his presence “would constitute an insult to the memory of the victims”.

They also consider that “LFI bears a very heavy responsibility for the explosion of Judeophobia in our country and is definitively marked with the seal of infamy”.

“It was one of my cousins who started saying that we couldn’t let it go.

We do not want to let LFI dishonor the victims of October 7,” explains to Parisien Olivier, a cousin of the Dan-Kalderon family, two members of which were killed, and three others taken hostage.

The children Erez and Sahar were released on November 27, but their father Ofer is still believed to be detained by Hamas.

“I don’t know what Emmanuel Macron will be able to do, but we cannot let these people sully the tribute.

“For them to talk about burning an 80-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl as an act of resistance is intolerable,” adds Olivier, in reference to the statements of MP Danièle Obono.

He also assures that other families of victims have been contacted with a view to also signing this letter.

“We thank you very much for wanting to honor the memory of the victims, and hope that this tribute takes place with the greatest respect and real solemnity.

It does not seem conceivable to us that a political force could, directly or indirectly, associate the Hamas terrorists with this tribute by exploiting it.

This February 7, must allow us to salute their memory, to soothe the pain and repair the living, to ensure that each of us can reflect, and listen to the stories, so that they integrate the French national story. the families conclude in their letter.
