The Tölzer Stadtklinik has a new medical director.
The chief physician of urology, Prof. Dr.
Roman Ganzer, takes over this position from Prof. Dr.
Rüdiger Ilg, who will act as deputy medical director in the future.
Bad Tölz - “I am very pleased that Dr.
Roman Ganzer takes over as medical director of the Asklepios City Clinic in Bad Tölz and thanks Dr.
Rüdiger Ilg for his excellent work.
I wish them every success and am convinced that both of them will continue to carry out their new tasks in the proven team with great commitment," the clinic's managing director, Felix Rauschek, is quoted as saying in a press release.
High-tech operations
According to the announcement, Ganzer is a clinical specialist in the field of minimally invasive robot-assisted surgery, laparoscopy and focal therapy for prostate cancer.
In July 2017, Ganzer started in Bad Tölz with the aim of building a center of excellence with a focus on minimally invasive surgical procedures.
Since then, the “da Vinci” surgical robot system has been in constant use in urology at the city clinic.
The high-tech procedure is particularly gentle and is used in the department for a variety of different procedures.

Link between doctors and management
As medical director, additional tasks now await the doctor - such as the challenges that the upcoming hospital reform will bring with it.
He would like to act as a link between management and the entire medical profession, help optimize internal clinic processes and play a key role as an interface to regional healthcare.
“I am very pleased that Dr.
Ganzer will take over the role of medical director,” said Ilg at the handover.
Ganzer is a colleague who enjoys the trust of his employees, patients and partners.
“As my previous deputy, he is well trained and I am convinced that we will successfully develop the medical quality and orientation of our clinic together under his leadership,” Ilg is quoted as saying.
