Twelve days of suspension from school for the statements contained in an interview (including video) given to a newspaper, which lists some critical issues inherent to school life.

This is the sanction that one of the institute representatives of the students of Ites

Jacopo Barozzi of Modena

risks , according to what was reported by the Gazzetta di Modena, the same newspaper with which the boy had spoken on November 28th to explain the reasons for a strike , which had not been authorized by the manager.

"We are awaiting notification of the provision", confirms to ANSA the lawyer Stefano Cavazzuti, who is assisting the young adult and has already prepared a sixteen-page defense brief.

This morning the students of Barozzi organized a sit-in in solidarity with their representative against the decision of the Institute Council "which we consider very serious - they write in a note - We feel attacked in our freedom of expression and speech".

In the statement the boys also refer to further episodes which would have involved other student representatives, who were in turn "subject to disciplinary measures, even if of a lesser amount, for having expressed our opinion".

In that interview the boy linked the reasons for the strike to "many problems (...), we ask to be treated like students and that our proposals are listened to".

He mentioned the desire to go on trips abroad, protested against the searches he suffered on the last day of school and the threats of reporting to the Digos in the event of a strike.

The lawyer underlines in the defense documents that his client gave the interview as a representative of the students and therefore in carrying out a political function that legitimizes the right to freedom of expression and criticism.
