The North District Planning and Construction Committee, chaired by Eran Nitzan, approved for deposit an outline plan for Kibbutz Menara on the northern border in the Upper Galilee Regional Council.

In view of the war, the committee decided to give priority to the discussion and approve the deposit plan right now.

The main goal of the plan is to regularize the kibbutz, which marks 80 years since its establishment, and adapt the planning to the many changes that have taken place in the kibbutz over the years, while responding to its future needs, in terms of demographic growth, housing, public spaces, employment, commerce, tourism and security.

Kibbutz Manara was one of the settlements on the border that suffered significant damage during the war, and many of its houses were destroyed by Hezbollah rocket fire.

The new plan allows for the construction of 211 housing units: 96 units in the old kibbutz and another 115 units in the expansion of the settlement.

It should be noted that the settlement currently has 130 members.

The planning administration says that the proposed plan will serve as a planning infrastructure to strengthen the economic base of the kibbutz.

Accordingly, the plan will allow for approximately 100 accommodation units for the purpose of strengthening the local and regional tourism system, along with the development of diverse sources of employment and industry as an important source of economic income for the settlement.

The plan includes many topics, including the regulation of land uses and the accuracy of the residential area, planning public spaces with a future vision, tourism development, regulating the possibility of developing small businesses and commerce, the regulation of the internal road system and parking solutions.

"A very important step"

The chairman of the North District Planning and Construction Committee, Eran Nitzan, said that "the submission of the plan is an extremely important step for the future of this settlement, especially in these difficult times.

The plan is another layer of strengthening the settlements in the Upper Galilee Regional Council in general and the conflict line settlements in particular.
