"I hope that Amadeus has the strength to continue also because extraordinary work has been done in the last five years and it is right that we continue on this path, but it is not up to me to decide."
The mayor of Sanremo, Alberto Biancheri, said this on the sidelines of the presentation of the "Between stage and city" project relating to the package of events organized, with the contribution of the sponsors, by Rai Pubblicità in synergy with the Municipality of Sanremo.
Biancheri will end his second administrative mandate this year and from 2025 there could certainly be a new mayor and perhaps even a new artistic director, thus marking the end of an era.
On the Festival which has been bringing the city back to life for some years now, Biancheri said: "We are working to create a widespread Festival. We have had two very difficult years due to Covid, but we have started again and I hope 2024 will be the explosion, obviously led by Amadeus and all the people who work there."
250 law enforcement agencies joined for the week of the Festival
There are 250 law enforcement personnel attached to the territorial garrisons to be employed during the week of the Sanremo Festival with "security" tasks, i.e. monitoring the safety of people.
To these will be added an equal number of men (stewarts) from Rai who will deal with safety, with checks aimed at structural safety.
This is what emerged on the sidelines of a technical inspection, preparatory to a committee for public order and safety, which will take place in the Prefecture.
The prefect of Imperia, Valerio Massimo Romeo, the police commissioner Giuseppe Felice Peritore, with the leaders of the police forces and a Rai delegation were present.
The representation moved through the streets of the so-called "red zone" of Sanremo, whose entry, on the occasion of the Festival, will also be regulated this year by gates manned by the police.
During the inspection, operational strategies were discussed: from the use of anti-terrorism barriers, to the opening of gates, to the use of agents equipped with shovels and metal detectors.
There was also discussion about where to allow pedestrian transit and where to prevent it, with a strengthening of surveillance in some areas most at risk.
