I will start with something personal that happened to me and my immediate family, and also about the city of Ofakim as a whole - a city that lost 52 of its sons and daughters in the massacre committed by the damned, cruel terrorists, who indiscriminately slaughtered everyone who stood in front of them.
It's 06:30, suddenly continuous alarms are heard on the horizon, alarms that do not foreshadow, at this point, the future.
Little by little I understand that something serious is happening.
We locked ourselves in the house, locked everything, as the hours ticked by I started receiving messages about dead people, and it turned out that some of them were my personal friends, soul mates.
The anxiety is great, the feelings at home are feelings of heavy sorrow, of great sadness.
I am beginning to understand, through conversations I hold with police and army personnel, that the incident in Ofakim is part of a murderous attack by a brutal terrorist organization that raided Ofakim and the settlements surrounding Gaza.
I receive shocking images of bodies lying in the streets, burnt houses and other harsh sights.

To this day, I don't understand how the terrorists got to the horizons - a huge mistake.

Even today I cannot understand how the terrorists managed to reach the horizons, such a great distance without a single checkpoint or military force stopping them - a huge failure.
Those who did come were the heroic policemen who fought heroically against the terrorists.
Some of them were killed but not before they eliminated dozens of terrorists and in fact saved the city another massacre.
There were also acts of heroism by citizens who defended their families and neighbors with their bodies.

Since then, the city of Ofakim is in great anxiety.
Does the state help all residents?
The answer is absolutely not.
The residents of Mishor Hagafen, where the massacre took place, are entitled to any assistance of one kind or another.
But the residents who live nearby, and found themselves close to the gunfight with the terrorists, are not entitled to anything.
A resident of the city, who has been recognized as being injured by a hostile action, is not entitled to any grant or monthly allowance, but only to the reimbursement of expenses for medical services.
That's logical?
The state, through social security, is looking for ways to save money at the expense of the residents affected by the anxiety, an anxiety that will continue for many years to come.
I call on the country to wake up, the residents of Ofakim have gone through trauma and irreversible mental injuries.
The decision-makers have forgotten the inferno that passed over the horizon on October 7, but these events are well engraved in every woman and man, girl and boy, elderly or elderly in the city.
