A city in Germany has made it into the top travel destinations around the world.
Kassel – Just in time for the start of the year, the New York Times
publishes
the “52 Places to Go”.
The list of exciting places around the world has been one of the most influential travel rankings in the USA since 2008.
This year, authors of the US daily newspaper also recommend a city in Germany.
Top travel destinations for 2024 – German city is also there
“No matter why you are traveling, our list offers inspiration,” explains the
Times
. Cultural events, sporting events and even unique natural spectacles characterize the selection of locations.
However, some are also very personal travel recommendations that authors want to recommend to their readers.
Some of the top travel destinations in 2024 are quite exotic, such as “Craters of Moon” in the US state of Idaho or the megacity of Almaty in Kazakhstan.
But it doesn't always have to be a long-distance journey.
Among the 52 places listed, dozens can also be found in Europe.
“New York Times” top 2024 travel destinations in Europe
These include the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park in Wales, the remote Prokletije mountain range in Albania and the Massa-Carrara region in Tuscany (Italy).
Cities like Paris, Manchester, Valencia and Vienna are also in the ranking this year - and also Dresden.

“New York Times” travel destinations 2024: Dresden in 50th place
According to the Times
, the largest restoration projects in the historic old town
have been completed in the Saxon state capital .
Dresden is ready to celebrate the romantic painter Caspar David Friedrichs.

The painter's 250th birthday is being celebrated all over Germany, with the biggest party being held in Dresden.
In addition, the exhibition “Archive of the Avant-Gardes – Egidio Marzona” with works of art from the 20th century opens in the Blockhaus on May 5, 2024.
