Carrying the flame with five rings, Nicolas Muller, director of the primary school of Monchy-Saint-Éloi (Oise) had dreamed of it since his adolescence, precisely since January 5, 1992. That day, the torch of the Winter Olympics d'Albertville had passed right in front of his house, in Montigny-lès-Metz in Moselle.
“It was great, all these people, this fervor, the parade, the white overalls of the torchbearers… This is what gave birth to my Olympic passion,” rewinds the forty-year-old, sitting at his desk on which sits a strange Olympic flame in paper and aluminum made by his students.

So when applications were opened last spring to become a “scout” for the Paris 2024 relay scheduled for July 18, the CM1-CM2 class teacher multiplied the applications, supported, in particular, by the departmental council of the Oise.
He believed in it “wholeheartedly”.
On January 16, the verdict finally arrived in his mailbox.
