Ukraine is busy developing unmanned ground drones to fight Russia.
The Deputy Prime Minister provides regular updates.
Kiev - New weapons systems are not uncommon in the ongoing war in Ukraine.
It has now become known that the Ukrainian army is said to have deployed an experimental ground robot equipped with machine guns at the front.
At least that's what the Newsweek
portal reports
with reference to image and video material published via social media.
Ukraine relies on robots with machine guns
According to
Newsweek,
the ground drones are used, among other things, for dangerous mine clearance work, but also intervene in direct firefights with the Russian armed forces.
Ukraine, it goes on to say, has recently invested a lot of money and time in unmanned technologies - both in unmanned aircraft and in water-based equipment.

The unmanned land vehicles have so far attracted less attention, but it is precisely here that the military leadership of Volodymyr Zelensky's government is increasingly pushing forward technical development.
In mid-September 2023, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, had already announced that “iron” ground robots were being tested at the front.

One of the machine gun-equipped drones in question is the Fury model, which is also said to have a 360-degree camera and powerful armor and can operate remotely.
The Ukrainian minister proudly noted in an

post about this ground unit: “Technology and innovation = key to our victory.”

But that's not all: Ukrainian military inventors are apparently still working on several other unmanned ground robots.
Including the UGV Sirko-S1, which has numerous attributes.
“His job is to transport cargo, evacuate the wounded and scout enemy positions,” Fedorov also explained last November, per

The new drone will also be equipped with a combat tower and mine clearance modules.

Ukraine's unmanned ground robot as a kamikaze unit
Mychajlo Fedorov presented another ground robot via social media in October 2023.
“Here is a Ukrainian kamikaze robot that will soon delight the Russians,” wrote the Minister for Digital Transformation at the time, referring to the Ratel S drone model, which is also unmanned and is supposed to carry anti-tank missiles and a combat module.
“This allows the operator to blow up the enemy’s equipment from a safe location.
Ratel S has already passed field tests and entered mass production,” Fedorov explained.
In early January, according to
Newsweek
, Ukraine's ground forces finally announced that their 5th Separate Assault Brigade was already regularly using ground-based combat drones to attack Russian positions.
Two Russian tanks apparently recently experienced how dangerous Ukrainian drones belonging to Putin's army can be.
