There is once again a threat of a strike in the German transport infrastructure: Before Verdi goes on strike on public transport, employees at airports should stop work.

This also applies to Bremen and Hanover.

Bremen/Hannover - Air passengers have to be prepared for flight cancellations and delays this Thursday (February 1st).

Verdi has called on aviation security forces to go on a nationwide warning strike, which, according to the union, will also affect Hanover and Bremen airports.

According to Verdi, employees at the airports in Hamburg, Frankfurt am Main, Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Dresden, Erfurt and Stuttgart are also called on to take industrial action.

According to the announcement, employees in the aviation security sector who work in passenger screening, people and goods screening, cargo screening and service areas are called upon to strike.

Without these employees, passengers cannot pass through security checks before flights.

There is therefore a risk of numerous flight cancellations.

“Our goal is to sustainably compensate for the employees’ loss of purchasing power,” said Verdi negotiator Wolfgang Pieper, according to the statement.

“The work of the aviation security forces must remain financially attractive so that the urgently needed skilled workers can be recruited and retained.” dpa
