The more than 100-year-old excursion restaurant was renovated for four years, and now the time has finally come: the “Eierhäuschen” begins operations.
Berlin - The over 100-year-old excursion restaurant “Eierhäuschen” in the Plänterwald in Berlin-Treptow is opening its doors after a long renovation.
From Thursday, visitors will be offered modern German cuisine with subtle French influences in the restaurant on the Spree, as the state-owned company Grün Berlin announced on Wednesday.
From February onwards, the restaurant will be open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight.
The beer garden is scheduled to start the new season in April.
The four-year renovation was completed in December.
It cost 16 million euros and was paid for by the state.
The renovation of the previously popular waterfront restaurant and beer garden is one of the steps towards the redesign of the Spreepark area in Plänterwald.
In addition to a restaurant, there will also be an exhibition room in the restaurant.
The first exhibition is being prepared and is scheduled to open on March 22nd.
In the GDR, the Plänterwald was considered the largest amusement park.
After many years of standstill and neglect, the site is now being renovated step by step.
This year, construction work on the Ferris wheel, water basin and workshop is planned.
The 45 meter high Ferris wheel will once again become the center of the park.
