Before discussing public broadcasting, Nicolas Demorand gave an anecdote about Rachida Dati.
“People may not know it but you are an avid listener of France Inter.
It may seem baroque but you know the grid by heart
,” he declared, immediately making the minister react to the terms used.
“You see, Nicolas Demorand, your sectarianism?
Why baroque?
»
He replies:
“I say it with a smile and it is absolutely not sectarianism”.
“I love France Inter because it’s one of the rare radio stations where the presenters are not the stars of the schedule”
Rachida Dati
Rachida Dati then continues her remarks by detailing why she loves the station so much:
“My life was built by what?
Through public broadcasting, radio, we didn’t have TV
. ”
She then mentions Daniel Morin, who offers an offbeat look at the news every morning on France Inter at 6:55 a.m. and which she listens to, then continues on public radio:
“I love France Inter because it's one of the rare radio stations where the hosts are not the stars of the schedule, it is the program that is the star of the schedule.”
Before throwing a dig at Léa Salamé with unfeigned irony:
“Yes, I know Léa Salamé, you are a star.
Okay..."
"But no...,
the person concerned replies embarrassedly.
Indeed, you are absolutely right.
I'm very, very happy that you said that..."

Rachida Dati then explains that radio is a medium that she has always listened to.
“I'm quite an insomniac.
I listen at night and I find that there is something to it.
For example, I listen to “Les P’tits Bateaux” with my daughter.
»
The politician then ends the interview by answering questions from the two journalists on the threat weighing on public broadcasting, deprived of royalties.
“We must preserve public broadcasting and if you want to preserve it, you must bring together forces
,” she said, giving the private media and European radio and television as an example.
“We will not be able to do otherwise if we want to preserve public broadcasting and ensure that it remains powerful.
