'Trackers', an excellent South African puzzle

There are series that maintain their interest years after being released, which in a market as competitive as the audiovisual market is not so common.

This is the case of the South African

Trackers

, released in its country in 2019 and a year later in Spain.

If we add to this that the plot is made up of several apparently autonomous subplots, the fact that it maintains its quality is, basically, a success for its scriptwriters and, also, for the author of the novel of the same name, Deon Meyer, published in 2011. And Perhaps the fact that it maintains its quality and acceptance is due to the fact that the themes dealt with in the HBO series are, unfortunately, timeless: gender violence, greed, political corruption, religious fanaticism and Islamist terrorism.

The protagonist, a 40-year-old woman who leaves her home due to the abuse inflicted on her by her husband, finds work in the Presidential Intelligence Office, a government agency that must preserve citizen security.

When they discover that a serious incident related to diamond smuggling is linked to the financing of an imminent terrorist attack, tension increases and, with it, the request for help from the CIA.

Everything becomes complicated when a criminal gang from Cape Town also intervenes, and here it is worth highlighting again the work of a large team of scriptwriters capable of effectively developing the complexity of the different stories that intersect until completely reconstructing the puzzle

in which, naturally, does not lack a brief love story either.

Finally, note that

Trackers

is another example of globalization: South African production, dialogues in English (dubbed into Spanish) and Afrikaner (subtitled) and directed by a Finn.
