The Berg Volunteer Fire Department can look back on an eventful year.

In 2023 she went out more often than in previous years.

There were five awards at this year's annual general meeting.

Berg – The Berg Volunteer Fire Department has had a varied year.

Commander Bastian Sandbichler and chairman Philipp Mehlich looked back on an exciting year at the annual general meeting these days.

There were a total of 141 missions.

That's an average of almost three missions per week.

The number of operations has increased slightly over the past few years, with a total of 123 in 2021, then 136 in 2022 and now 141, as can be seen from the Berger Fire Department's annual report.

Last year the missions were all very varied.

For example, the fire department supported its colleagues in the neighboring district of Bad Tölz on several occasions, including because of two roof fires in May.

At the end of August there was also a strange traffic accident in the district in the middle of the night.

A driver would have lost control of his vehicle on the way from Unterberg to Oberberg.

“Here he drove over several bushes, up a slope, into a tree and then rolled over onto the roof, whereupon the car slid a few meters down the valley on its roof,” reported Sandbichler.

“We provided the driver with initial care, secured the vehicle and lit the accident scene.” However, the towing service driver locked himself out of his vehicle during the night.

The Berg fire department helped him out of the dilemma.

The operation lasted about three and a half hours – and “in the most beautiful full moon.”

The different weather conditions also led to some missions.

Trees fell onto the streets due to a storm front in mid-July.

On the first weekend in December, the heavy snowfall caused ten incidents.

“Even our own fire station had to be shoveled clear by hand in the morning,” reported the commander.

Five active members were honored

There are a total of 66 active members of the Berg Volunteer Fire Department, including nine from the youth fire department.

The number of active members has remained constant over the past few years.

In 2023, 112 practice evenings took place.

These amounted to at least 4807 hours.

The two auditors Herbert Söllner and Dr.

Oliver Sensch was unanimously re-elected.

Chairman Philipp Mehlich also emphasized: “A big thank you goes to all comrades who are willing to carry out this voluntary work 365 days a year, who train for emergencies on many practice evenings and who are alerted day and night.” They were honored for their many years of active fire service : Stefan Keilitz (20 years of active membership), Anton Lidl (25 years), Michael Pliessnig (25 years), Florian Knappe (30 years) and Dr.

Oliver Sensch (40 years old).
