Highlights: Vladimir Putin listed all of his assets in an official document. The Russian president has earned 67.6 million rubles (694,421 euros) over the last six years. The documents also reveal that Putin owns two GAZ M-21 cars dating from 1960 and 1965, a camping caravan from 1987 and a Lada Niva from 2009. Forbes estimates the fortune of Vladimir Putin at 200 billion euros, which would make him one of the men the richest in the world. The analysis of this financial heritage, appearing relatively modest, raises doubts.

As the presidential election approaches, Vladimir Putin listed all of his assets in an official document. These statements appear lower than some estimates.

The Russian authorities formalized on Monday the participation of Vladimir Putin in the presidential election in March, where the leader should largely win.

However, a document published this Tuesday, January 30 by the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia and provided by the Russian president aroused astonishment.

This document, relayed by the Belgian media HLN, reveals the financial assets of Vladimir Putin, indicating that the latter has earned 67.6 million rubles (694,421 euros) over the last six years.

This income comes from various sources such as his salary, bank securities and deposits, military and civilian pensions, as well as property sales.

Several apartments and cars

Regarding his material assets, the Russian president declares that he owns an apartment of 77 m² and a garage of 18 m² in Saint Petersburg.

He also mentions a 153.7 m² apartment rented by the government in Moscow and an 18 m² parking lot in St. Petersburg, made available to him unlimitedly by the government.

The documents also reveal that Putin owns two GAZ M-21 cars dating from 1960 and 1965, a camping caravan from 1987 and a Lada Niva from 2009. The Russian president also declares savings of 54.5 million rubles (559,663 euros) spread across ten Russian bank accounts, as well as the possession of 230 shares of the Bank of Saint Petersburg, valued at 280.49 rubles (2.88 euros) each.

However, the analysis of this financial heritage, appearing relatively modest, raises doubts, in contrast with the estimates of the economic magazine Forbes which estimates the fortune of Vladimir Putin at 200 billion euros, which would make him one of the men the richest in the world.

In 2022, journalists from different foreign media had also discovered hidden elements of the presidential fortune, highlighting 86 companies and organizations linked by the same domain name for their email addresses.

These assets included luxury properties, yachts, jets and bank accounts worth a total of around €4.3 billion.

Russian opponent Alexei Navalny had already affirmed in 2021 that the Russian president held a considerable fortune, including the construction of a 17,000 m² palace on the shores of the Black Sea, estimated at nearly 1.4 billion euros.
