The Wolfratshausen Business Area Business Association was founded 50 years ago this year.

The big birthday is celebrated with a hearty raft trip.

Wolfratshausen – In the summer of 1974, the image of company bosses throughout Germany was generally not in good shape.

That didn't stop Johannes Schneider, Alfons Stotz, Wolfgang Engelhaaf and Winfried Haas from launching the Wolfratshausen Economic Area Entrepreneurs' Association, or UWW for short.

The members met for the 50th time on Monday evening for the general meeting - on this occasion, chairman Christian von Stülpnagel revealed how and where the milestone birthday will be celebrated.

At the time, Schneider explained in an interview with our newspaper in the spring of 2009 that he was “freaked out” by the fact that entrepreneurs were “hostile” in the 1970s.

He therefore campaigned to found an interest group “similar to the Geretsried industrial community” – which had already existed for 25 years in 1974 – in Loisachstadt.

Entrepreneurs are now seen in a different light (the same applies to management's view of employees) - and the UWW is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

In light of this anniversary, the members met on Monday evening in the hall of the Sparkasse building on Sauerlacher Strasse for the general meeting.

Members unanimously confirm the board of directors in office

The interest group was launched on July 19, 1974 with 16 members.

Almost half a century later, Chairman von Stülpnagel counts 123 globally active companies, medium-sized businesses, craft companies and service providers in the ranks of the UWW.

A good half of them came to the most recent general meeting and agreed on the regular election of the board of directors: Chairman von Stülpnagel, his deputy Jens Eckardt, secretary Josef Wehbe and cashier Christian Spindler will remain at the helm until 2026.

After his re-election - he has been chairman since 2012 - von Stülpnagel (70) flirted with the fact that “the ravages of time” are also gnawing at him.

“A successor should be found” in the next two years.

Inspector Franz Stöger had previously announced that the cash register was “in perfect order”.

There is enough money available to cover the birthday year.

Information events with top-class speakers are also planned this year, as well as a tour of the state parliament including a visit to a plenary session.

The 50th will be toasted during a hearty raft trip with UWW member and raft master Josef “Sepp” Seitner, which will take place on June 19th.

Geothermal energy: UWW boss expects successful drilling

Looking back, von Stülpnagel highlighted the visit to the Eavor company's geothermal plant at Gut Breitenbach in Geretsried-Gelting in his annual report.

The UWW boss firmly expects the drilling to be successful.

As reported, if successful, more than 5,000 households should be supplied with electricity by the end of this year - and a district heating network should be in place after 2027.

Von Stülpnagel considers the production of renewable energy through geothermal energy to be “unbeatable”.

The general meeting ends with a Bavarian buffet

Before the guests - including Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner, city manager Dr.

Stefan Werner, the district's economic development officer, Andreas Roß, Britta Wurm, board member of the Wolfratshausen building cooperative, UWW founding and honorary member Johannes Schneider and ex-UWW chairman Dr.

Walter Steinbach – ended the evening with a Bavarian buffet, the stage belonged to Dr.

Ulrike Stefanowski and Thomas Knezevic.

The office furniture specialist based in Wolfratshausen and the doctor from Hohenschäftlarn showed in an entertaining little chamber play how important office chairs and height-adjustable desks are for the health of employees.

“Sitting is the new smoking,” Stefanowski told the entrepreneurs.

Knezevic emphasized that ergonomics and design can be reconciled: “A modern office workplace does not look like a rehabilitation center.” (cce)
