The chilling phone call in which Handy announced she had murdered her mother/@crimebroughttolight
29-year-old Hendy Botsami from Las Vegas, who only a month earlier had complained to police officers that they were treating her only because she was "too pretty", called the police and confessed to murdering her own mother following a fight over cigarettes that got out of hand.
Last week she was convicted of murder and received 15 years in prison.
Boutzami pleaded "guilty but mentally unsound" after being charged with the second-degree murder of her mother, 61-year-old Afaf Hosnan, in October 2022. She will serve the next 15 years in prison after she said she hit her mother in the head with a glass table and stabbed her with a broken piece of the table During a heated argument about cigarettes.
When an indictment was filed against her last March, she claimed her innocence, but the police tapes played in court were conclusive enough evidence of her actions.
She was found mentally stable enough to stand trial, but Botsami's public defender revealed that a psychologist found she was "experiencing intermittent exacerbations of psychosis and in need of continued psychiatric treatment," as cited in court documents.
