A truck loading crane got stuck on the B11 railway underpass near Icking and overturned.

The accident meant that the road and track had to be closed.

Icking - A truck driver probably misjudged the dimensions of his truck loading crane on Tuesday afternoon and got stuck at the railway underpass on the B11 near Icking.

Accident near Icking: truck loading crane crashes into railway underpass on B11 - closure to car and train traffic for hours

According to the Wolfratshausen police, an accident occurred on Tuesday (January 30) at around 12:20 p.m. on the B11 around 200 meters after the town of Icking in the direction of Wolfratshausen.

A truck loading crane that got stuck on the railway bridge overturned and paralyzed road and rail traffic.

The truck with a loading crane drove from Icking to Wolfratshausen.

Shortly after the town of Icking, the 53-year-old driver from Lenggries wanted to drive under the S-Bahn bridge, but the loading crane on the truck was still too high, which is why it got stuck on the railway bridge.

This caused the truck to pull to the left and tip over onto its left side.

As a result, the vehicle, which was loaded with green waste, lay across the road so that the driver could no longer free himself from the truck.

The driver of the vehicle was slightly injured and was taken to a nearby hospital by emergency services.

“The truck suffered a total loss of around 100,000 euros,” said an official.

The material damage to the scratched railway bridge is estimated at around 10,000 euros.

A Deutsche Bahn employee was on site to assess the situation.

According to Deutsche Bahn, the statics of the bridge were never endangered or impaired, which is why Deutsche Bahn was able to reopen train traffic on site at a very early stage.

The B11 was closed for a total of three hours as the recovery of the truck took longer.

The Icking fire department and the Wolfratshausen road maintenance department were also on site for road closures and leaking operating materials.

The driver can now expect a fine.
