Isen - The former landlord Arno Seiler celebrated his 80th birthday in his restaurant in Burgrain.

Isen – Arno Seiler is known like a sore thumb around Isen.

That's why he received many congratulations on his 80th birthday.

Throughout his life, the former innkeeper of the Seiler Inn worked for others and was active in many ways.

He himself had to contend with many fates.

On Sunday, many of Arno Seiler's relatives, friends and acquaintances gathered at the former Seiler inn in Burgrain to celebrate his big birthday with him.

Among the well-wishers was Pastor Josef Kriechbaumer, who presented the anniversary man with a gift and serenaded him with his blessing.

Later in the day, Mayor Irmgard Hibler stopped by to congratulate personally and on behalf of the community.

His mother Lydia comes from Breslau and met her husband Karl there, who was in the hospital.

Arno was also born here.

In 1945 his parents fled with him to Karl's hometown of Burgrain.

The parents ran the Seiler inn in Burgrain, where Arno, who had trained as a butcher, later also worked behind the counter.

Arno Seiler met his wife Irmlinde in the Anzenberger business in Isen, and the couple married in 1965. Soon afterwards, their daughter Andrea was born and a few years later their daughter Alexandra.

A severe blow for him and the entire family was the far too early death of Irmlinde, who died in April 2006 at the age of only 60.

She was also the soul of the inn, which Arno Seiler has not run since then.

He shared a shared apartment with his mother, who had been alone since his father's death in 1993.

Arno Seiler is known and loved in the region because of his passion for football.

And not just as a Sechzger fan, but above all also actively as a youth coach in Isen, women's coach in Maitenbeth, referee and finally goalkeeping coach.

“Football gave him a lot,” says daughter Alexandra Seiler.

His other favorite sport was bowling in the “Kreuz Dreier” club, where he was a member for many years.

He met his current partner Regina about ten years ago while bowling.

Seiler also achieved a lot through his committed work on the boards of the local associations of the AWO and the VdK.

That's probably why he agreed to allow clubs to fill the former Seiler Inn with life again.

The building now belongs to the municipality of Isen and, as a “house of clubs”, offers space for the Burgrain boys’ club, the Burgschützen, the TSV kickboxing department and the Isen theater club.
