Highlights: After a 2.5-hour drive, the family is not allowed into the swimming paradise and finds it “a disgrace” – Therme takes a stand. According to a Google review, a family was not allowed to go to the Bad Loipersdorf thermal baths because they had not booked an online ticket. The thermal baths want to “emphasize that the article is based on unconfirmed facts,” and of course the unpleasant experience of the disappointed almost-guest cannot be substantiated.

Five hours by car for nothing!

A family was looking forward to visiting a renowned thermal spa - but the entrance area was the last stop for them.

Update from January 31, 2024:

According to a Google review, a family was not allowed to go to the Bad Loipersdorf thermal baths after a 2.5-hour drive because they had not booked an online ticket (see original article below).

The operator has now taken a position in a long email to our editorial team.

“With regard to the alleged entry problem during the Christmas holidays, we would like to point out that we have already taken comprehensive measures in advance to inform our guests in good time,” it says.

“This included sending newsletters, notices on our website and social media stories that pointed out the high demand and recommended purchasing tickets in advance.

For guests without online access, it was/is possible to inquire about the availability of tickets by telephone in order to offer them an alternative booking option." Apparently that wasn't enough - because the father of the family (see below) reported to our editorial team that they didn't have them The only ones who left disappointed without being allowed in.

The Loipersdorf thermal baths also attract visitors with various slides.

According to the thermal baths, it is generally “not necessary to buy tickets online in advance in order to gain access to the Loipersdorf thermal resort.

Tickets can also be purchased on site.

However, purchasing tickets in advance allows you to reserve your seat, which is particularly recommended in times of high demand to avoid any disappointment.”

“Guests without online reservations will only be sent away when the maximum number of guests is reached”

Of course, no company voluntarily sends away people who want to pay for use.

But this can also happen in a thermal bath if it is simply full.

“Guests without online reservations will only be sent away when the maximum number of guests has been reached.

This measure serves to ensure the safety of all visitors as well as the quality of the stay in the Loipersdorf thermal resort. This is only the case on days when the maximum capacity is reached.

One cannot remember the specific case of the father of the family from the Google review.

The thermal baths want to “emphasize that the article is based on unconfirmed facts,” and of course the unpleasant experience of the disappointed almost-guest cannot be substantiated.

He didn't take any pictures on site either.

“After inquiring at the information desk and seeing my children, I had to quickly leave the area.

“You don’t think about photos,” he explained to our editorial team.

So there is no reason to doubt his information, especially since the thermal baths admit that visitors sometimes have to be sent away when capacity is exhausted.

In any case, the father felt inadequately informed.

He compensated himself and his family the next day with a visit to another swimming paradise.

“The next day we visited the Lutzmannsburg thermal baths.

Clear information, booking easy.”

Family drives 2.5 hours to the large Austrian thermal baths - and is then not allowed in: "It's a shame"

Our article from January 27, 2024:

Bad Loipersdorf - “Large thermal water pools and a sauna village for relaxation” in the thermal baths and “Water fun for young and old: slides, sports pools and baby beaches to experience” in the adventure pool, plus the Schaffelbad: In the Loipersdorf thermal resort in According to the homepage, Styria (Austria) has a lot to offer for adults and children.

Many people have a good time there, as shown by the average Google rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars.

If you're allowed in.

For a family man, the thermal baths are now no longer a destination for excursions.

Thermenresort Loipersdorf (Austria): Family is not allowed in without an online ticket – father is furious

He vented his anger several weeks ago in a Google review.

“There was no indication on the homepage about the need for an online reservation.

So our goal was to arrive at the thermal spa with two children as early as possible.

After a 2.5-hour drive, we – and many other families (!!) – were greeted by a sign saying: “Entry only possible with an online ticket”.

The entrance area - the family couldn't get any further.

“Climate-damaging car rides and sad children’s eyes and a lot of anger among us adults”

The man gives 1 out of 5 stars and writes bitterly: “Thank you, dear management!

A clear notice on the homepage could have prevented five hours of unnecessary, climate-damaging car travel and sad children's eyes and a lot of anger among us adults.

That's what you can actually expect in the information age!

A shame!” Of course, his information cannot be verified, but there are no grounds for doubt - neither in his review nor in the exchange with our editorial team.

Plus he actually lives 2.5 hours away by car.

A request from our editorial team to the Loipersdorf thermal spa department on Thursday (January 25th) initially received no response.

On Friday, Google responded to a complaint that was several weeks old.

The thermal spa operators write: “Especially during the holiday season, especially during the Christmas holidays, we are very popular as a popular excursion destination.

We provided daily information about admission availability via social media and on our website and recommended purchasing tickets online in advance.”

Almost a guest at Österreich-Therme describes: “Many parents sat desperately with their cell phones in the foyer”

Did the disappointed guest not obtain sufficient information beforehand?

Or the thermal spa doesn’t communicate the restrictions clearly enough?

What was in the Instagram story and on the homepage can no longer be verified afterwards, but relevant information is rare in the Facebook postings.

In any case, there is no mention of “It is better not to arrive without an online reservation” there, but rather a reference to booking the ticket.

According to the father of the family, they were not the only ones who had to leave disappointed.

“Many parents sat desperately in the foyer with their cell phones and tried to quickly get a ticket online.

A gentleman told me that after spending the night in the hotel he was now refused entry.

Travel and hotel costs for nothing.

I was just really angry and disappointed.” In any case, another review says: “Nowhere is there any indication that you absolutely have to reserve online (except for a sign on site).

Despite arriving early, an hour's drive is free.

Sad children's eyes included.

Never again."

Thermenresort Loipersdorf apologizes to Google

The Loipersdorf thermal resort apologizes to the former customer in its statement on Google: “We are sorry that our recommendations did not reach you and that you could not get entry on site.

Nevertheless, we hope to be able to welcome you at another opportunity – perhaps outside of holiday periods.” The family will probably no longer give them the chance.

“As a consequence, we will avoid this thermal bath, even though we were often happy visitors in the past.” There was also trouble recently on the Baltic Sea, where an adult woman was refused a children's schnitzel.
