This triumph goes to the hit: Green Day didn't reach number 1 in the German album charts.

But a German-speaking band.

Baden-Baden - The trio Green Day is probably one of the most famous punk bands of today.

In this respect, a new album from the guitar legends is an event.

And you would think that it was just a formality that they also reached number 1 in the German charts.

But far from it: “Saviors”, their new studio work and the first in four years, only reached second place.

Before that: a hit duo that hardly anyone outside of German-speaking countries knows.

German album charts: Schlager duo Fantasy enters number 1 ahead of Green Day

We're talking about fantasy.

The duo, consisting of Fredi Malinowski and Martin Hein, entered the German album charts at number 1. GfK Entertainment announced this on Friday.

“Phoenix from the Ashes” is already their eighth number one record.

GfK reminds us that Green Day's two previous records also missed the top spot: “Father Of All...” and “Revolution Radio” only ended up in runner-up position.

Schlager duo happy: “A unique experience in fantasy history”

Fantasy has 23,000 followers on Instagram, Green Day has five million.

Nevertheless, the pop singers show the punk rockers a long nose.

The joy is correspondingly great.

“A big thank you to the best fans in the world and everyone involved,” says the fantasy story.

“A unique experience in fantasy history.

Three number 1 albums in twelve months.” Incidentally, Helene Fischer is also still in the album top 100: her “Rausch” even climbed from number 60 to number 56 this week.

Fantasy have already made it to number 1 again.

The Official German Charts are determined by GfK Entertainment.

They cover 90 percent of all music sales.

According to GfK Entertainment, the hit lists are based on sales and usage data from 2,800 retailers across all sales channels.

These include stationary retail, e-commerce providers, download portals and streaming platforms.

There was recently a hit scare on a live TV show: a singer had an outfit mishap that she didn't even notice.
