The first Amazon Prime deliveries with drones will arrive in our country this year, while in 2023 on a global level, the company managed to make the fastest deliveries ever, with more than 7 billion products delivered the same day or in one day, of which over 4 billion in the United States and over 2 billion in Europe.
This was announced in a note in which the e-commerce giant takes stock of deliveries and logistics, explaining that, also thanks to artificial intelligence, the targeted replenishment of warehouses has been improved and that in Europe, in 2023, the average distance traveled by each package within the Amazon network compared to 2022. In Italy, the company's logistics network has 10 distribution centers, 3 sorting centers and 37 sorting depots;
the northernmost one is in Trento, the southernmost one is in Catania.
This year Prime Air drones will be used for deliveries in some Italian and UK locations.
"We continue to innovate to offer customers in Italy fast deliveries on a wide selection of products, including those made available by 21,000 small and medium-sized businesses, including those included in our Made in Italy showcase, and by the big brands that customers love more. Since the launch of Prime in Italy in 2011, we have continued to invest to give added value to Prime customers with ever new benefits and offers", explains Mariangela Marseglia, VP and Country Manager of Amazon.it and Amazon.es.
“The work we are doing to speed delivery is a global, multi-year commitment for us, and we know we have further room to grow to offer customers even faster deliveries,” says Doug Herrington, CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores.
