All motorway access to the metropolis of Lyon is blocked, while the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, has warned that he will not let them enter the city.

Le Figaro Lyon

Lyon in a state of siege, or almost.

All highway access to the metropolis is now blocked by farmers as part of the social movement started last week.

Sometimes held for several days, these blockades are not very extensive, so that traffic is possible for residents, juggling between diversions.

However, travel times are significantly extended.

And that farmers are determined to stay in place, highlighting

“exceptional motivation”

.

To the point that Gérald Darmanin had to list

“red lines”

this Wednesday morning on France 2 .

“We gave them clear lines: do not enter Paris, do not block Rungis, do not block the airports

,” listed the Minister of the Interior.

It’s the same thing in Lyon.”

“Due to the social movement, traffic has been severely disrupted on the road network in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region since Tuesday January 23

,” indicates the office of the prefect of the Rhône and the region, Fabienne Buccio.

She asks motorists to find out about the routes recommended by radio station 107.7 and the Bison Futé website, and to respect them.

“The prefect asks to remain calm and to postpone any non-essential travel

,” state services insist in a press release.

Employers are invited to facilitate teleworking.

Lyon “caught in the pincers”

And for good reason, the northern access is blocked at the Villefranche-sur-Saône toll on the A6 motorway.

Traffic is cut in both directions on this axis between exit 31.1 and the A6/A466 junction, south of Anse.

To the south of the town, the A7 motorway is cut at several points.

First in Pierre-Bénite, at the automatic radar, then between Feyzin and Vienne.

The disruptions continue in the Rhône valley since after Chanas, the motorway is impassable until Bollène.

Travel times are doubled in the Rhône valley, where alternative routes, particularly the national 7, are very busy.

Those planning a ski weekend are not much better off with blockages at the eastern exit of the metropolis.

Traffic is thus cut in both directions on the A43 near Saint-Quentin Fallavier, then between Bourgoin and La Tour-du-Pin.

Traffic is also largely disrupted in the Grenoble metropolitan area.

As for the A42 and access to the Ain department, it could be blocked at the island node this Wednesday evening.

To the west, nothing better since the A89 is also cut from L'Arbresle and up to the junction with the A6.

The A6, where Rhone milk farmers received a visit this Wednesday from representatives of the National Federation of Milk Producers.

“Dignity and remuneration at the heart of the discussions”

, reports the FRSEA Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, which demands

“respect for the Égalim law to keep farms on our territories!”

.

More than 200 tractors and 400 people were mobilized this Wednesday afternoon at the various blockage points in the department.

“And it goes up in the evening,”

says Pascal Gouttenoire, president of FDSEA 69. In Lyon as elsewhere, union officials were disappointed with Gabriel Attal's announcements during his general policy speech.

Determined to keep the blocking points until the weekend, they set up a rotation of troops to hold out over the long term.
