Antibes: after a cardiac arrest, an 11-year-old girl narrowly resuscitated by a volunteer firefighter

Tuesday, late in the afternoon, an eleven-year-old girl suffered a heart attack after a basketball match in the Salusse sports complex, in Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes).

Information from France Bleu Azur, confirmed Wednesday in Le

by the Alpes-Maritimes departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS).

Luckily, a volunteer firefighter in civilian clothes was on site at the time of the incident.

The latter first noticed that the little girl was no longer breathing, then that her heart had stopped beating.

She was then in cardiorespiratory arrest.

Aware of the seriousness of the situation, the man did not lose his composure and immediately began resuscitation efforts.

After several shocks delivered, the victim's heart suddenly started again.

A relief.

But not a victory yet.

Immediately taken care of by emergency services who arrived on site, the young girl was transported to Lenval hospital in Nice, in serious condition.

An exceptional case

The intervention of the volunteer firefighter was nevertheless decisive in the survival of the young victim.
