Highlights: Anzing's mayor Kathrin Alte in an interview: “We have busy months ahead of us”. “Big politics’ isn’t helping any of us right now, quite the opposite,” she says. ‘We as municipalities can wish for or demand a lot from the district, but we are all in the same boat,’ she adds. If the current federal government does not finally get the migration issue under control and fewer refugees are accepted into Germany, then the districts, cities and municipalities will no longer be able to do so.

Anzing's mayor Kathrin Alte speaks in an interview about construction projects, her demand for more support from the district and her wish.

What projects are your priority in the current year?

We have busy months ahead of us in the community in 2024: We are working hard to plan and organize the implementation of 24 affordable apartments, which we are implementing together with the WBE gkU (district housing association) on the school campus.

The groundbreaking should take place - if everything goes well - by mid-2025.

And we will become even more energy self-sufficient: the PV systems on the community's own roofs will be ready by May.

Here I would like to say thank you to all the citizens who supported us in the participation projects of the BEG (Ebersberg Citizens' Energy Cooperative) and the EGIS (EnergieGenossenschaft InnSalzach eG).

A major project is coming in July and August and has to be implemented during the summer holidays: the renovation of the 60-year-old pipes and the school toilets in our elementary school.

We are investing over 400,000 euros here.

The renovation of the Anzinger Forsthof and the renovation of the “Alten Schmiede”, where our music school will have its own rooms in the future, are also being planned.

What support would you like from the district regarding district levy, refugees and asylum seekers?

Anzing initially concentrates on his mandatory tasks: first the renovation of school toilets and then - if there is still money in the till - we can turn to the other tasks, such as the renovation of the forestry farm.

In the district, major issues and mandatory tasks, for example the urgent construction of a high school in Poing, are not making progress because there is a lack of money.

What is also no longer true and where help is needed from Berlin and Munich: The district clinic, which is indispensable for our citizens, needs more money this year and in the future.

We as municipalities can wish for or demand a lot from the district, but we are all in the same boat.

The district must pay better attention to the performance of the municipalities than before, keep the district levy stable in the future and set clear priorities.

What is really necessary and what is not?

Things can no longer go on as before if income continues to fall, tasks become more and more and costs rise.

The goal must be a better exchange between the district office, district council and mayors.

And “big politics” isn’t helping any of us right now, quite the opposite.

If the current federal government does not finally get the migration issue under control and fewer refugees are accepted into Germany, then the districts, cities and municipalities will no longer be able to do so.

Every 14 days, 50 refugees have to be accommodated in the district. This is no longer possible and no one can answer the question of how this should continue.

If you had three wishes, what would they be?

That our village community remains as active as before and that we, together with clubs and groups, young and old, long-time residents and newcomers, make our village livable and lovable for everyone.

In terms of specific projects, I would like to see the already approved cycle path between Anzing and Forstinning implemented soon.

Here we have been waiting for months for either a funding commitment from the government for the alternative planning and if this does not come - a statement from the Ministry of the Environment as to whether the Lower Nature Conservation Authority actually has no discretion whatsoever when it comes to the hedge on the north side.

And that at the end of 2024 we can finally put a positive spin on two painful issues: The water dispute with Markt Schwaben will hopefully be over soon and we will have an inter-municipal and viable solution for the next decades and we have finally concluded the “fiber optic” issue in Anzing and all outstanding construction sites and problems solved.
